The flag site exits because of the vision and dedication of prior Committees with the generosity of the citizens of Somerset County, PA.
The current Committee is committed to the long-term maintenance of the flag site,
which is dedicated to all Somerset County veterans and to the flag pole which is dedicated to the Flight 93 heroes
If successful, our work will never be finished.

2024

   2024

The flag was down prior to Memorial Day.

The winch failed and we could not raise a large flag.
The Flag Station from Altoona sent the winch out for inspection.
A new winch of the same design would cost about $4,000.
A new design was recommended by the Flag Station that was easier to use and cost about $2,000.
It would require modificatiions to the pole and time to build.
The Committee acccepted the recommendation.
Installation by the Flag Station began November 9 and finished November 11, 2024.
The new winch is much easier to use than the old design.
A very good decision.
