The flag site exits because of the vision and dedication of prior Committees with the generosity of the citizens of Somerset County, PA.
The current Committee is committed to the long-term maintenance of the flag site,
which is dedicated to all Somerset County veterans and to the flag pole which is dedicated to the Flight 93 heroes
If successful, our work will never be finished.

May 2013

A new twenty year lease renewal was signed by the Flag Committee

May 16, 2013

At the May 16th meeting the flag was raised for the year.

The Committee also voted to try to fly the flag into November, weather permitting, and also to raise the flag earlier next year, again weather permitting. As of now, we believe the winter months of December, January and February will cause too much damage to the flags to be cost effective. Also, our ability to raise and lower the flags in severe weather adds another layer of risk. We will try our best to increase the number of days we have the flag flying over Somerset.
